The St. Mary Spiritual Reading Group II for gentlemen (ladies are welcome) will meet on Thursday, May 22, 8 P.M., in the Romero Center. We will read Benedict XVI's Encyclical Letter (2005) and formulate the fall semester program. The Pope's letter can be down loaded from the Vatican Web site. The Taste of St. Mary raised $1,452 for the St. Mary Calavera Projects. Thank you to all those who participated and generously donated the prepared food and to those who tasted! Muchas gracias from the people of Calavera.

United In Gratitude as One Church, let us join together to support this year's Annual Diocesan Appeal. Letters have been mailed to everyone on the St. Mary Parish list. If you did not receive one, please call the office to update our records. Thanks to the 16 families who have already pledged 22% of the $19,265 goal assigned to St. Mary.

St. Mary Cemetery depends on annual donations for upkeep. Families who own lots at the cemetery are reminded to help pay for the costs of mowing and maintenance which this year will come to over $20,000. Your contribution to
St. Mary Cemetery can be put in the collection basket.

Catholic Relief Services report that the international Catholic community is now providing critical support for our local Catholic Church partners in Myanmar to save lives. Through them, we are able to reach people in some of the most devastated areas with urgent humanitarian assistance, including food, means for shelter, counceling, water, and medical care. Donations can be made via the web at crs.org or a check made to Catholic Relief Services can be put in the collection.

Sustaining the Earth With Allied Religious Denominations – A workshop to be held in Urbana on Christianity and stewardship of the earth will provide training and resources to church leaders in order to foster a sense of environmental responsibility, and to inspire action from the Christian community. Everyone is encouraged to attend the Diocesan Summer Institute, June 13-14, in Peoria. 44 workshops will be offered, including special tracks for Catechists, Youth Workers, Catholic School Teachers, and RCIA Leaders. Praise in the Park, sponsored by Monticello Christian Academy, will be held Saturday, June 14, 1-10 P.M., Forest Preserve Park, Route 105, Monticello. Many bands will perform worship, contemporary, gospel, rock, and hip-hop music.

TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) invites each young adult (ages 16-20) to participate in a 3-day weekend to live, think, listen, and pray together. Pray. Remember our parish community, pastor, bishop, and our sister communities in Calavera, El Salvador in your prayers.
Meditate. Visit www.sacredspace.ie for a daily scriptural reflection in English, Korean, and Spanish taken from the daily liturgy.
Visit a shut-in. Be matched with a St. Mary parishioner who would appreciate regular visits, weekly or monthly. Call Sandy at 352-8364.
Provide flowers. If you would like to provide flowers to beautify our sanctuary, please call Carolyn at 356-5194.

Feed the hungry. In addition to financial contributors (FCWH, P.O. Box 1612, Champaign 61824-1612), the St. Jude Catholic Worker House needs volunteers for the Soup Kitchen. Call Ellen at 356-7101 or Leigh at 359-9466.
Help the homeless. Donate shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, spray deodorant, hair care products for African-American men, shaving cream and disposable razors to the T.I.M.E.S. Center. All sizes are appreciated. The collection box is in the church lobby. Call Carolyn at 356-5194.
Save your used stamps. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet redeem them for cash which is used for their missions in Peru and Japan. Container is in the lobby.
Save your inkjet printer cartridges. St. Mary earns $2 for each one which is then donated to the St. Jude Catholic Worker House. Place them in the box in the lobby or use the mailing bags by the box.
Shop. In addition to the many products from El Salvador, handmade jewelry,
St. Mary note cards, and the St. Mary Choir CD are on sale in the lobby. These sales support the small women's co-ops in El Salvador.

Baptisms can be arranged at your convenience with the pastor. We suggest that you consider baptism as part of the Sunday Liturgy.
Marriages must be arranged with the pastor at least four months in advance. Attendance at Pre-Cana Conferences is required.
Communion for shut-ins may be arranged with the pastor.
The Sacrament of the Sick is administered twice yearly at Sunday Masses or may be arranged at any time with the pastor.
The Religious Education Program for school children is held on Sunday mornings at 9 A.M., October – April.
Check out the magazine rack in the lobby. A number of excellent Catholic publications are available for purchase.
